# Terms
## Who checks this plugin
Whoever installs it carries its risk. Wherever it is listed, the listing is
not an endorsement; the registry it came from says what, if anything, it
checked. The
[Platform Terms](https://open-meridian.com/terms) govern.
## Unusual Whales' terms
What this plugin's builders noted on 30 October 2026 from Unusual Whales'
public pages, to check against Unusual Whales' own words, which can change.
Not legal advice.
- **A token and a plan.** Every API request asks for a token. The public API
page lists API Options Starter, API Basic and API Advanced, each with a
free trial, and says the API is for personal use.
- **Keeping data.** The API's conventions page says API data may be kept and
used for personal or internal purposes, also after a subscription ends.
- **Redistribution.** Not allowed without a redistribution licence from
Unusual Whales; the public API page says accounts found redistributing are
terminated.
- **Delayed data.** A 15-minute delayed service, at a lower price, is
arranged with Unusual Whales' sales team; this plugin declares real-time
datasets only.
- **Not read.** Unusual Whales' full terms of service did not render as a
readable page when this was written; read them before you rely on this
summary.
## Who stands behind the values
| Dataset | Behind it |
|---|---|
| `options` | OPRA, the Options Price Reporting Authority, which carries the exchanges' quotes and trades and the clearing house's open interest; through Unusual Whales |
| `option_trades` | OPRA; through Unusual Whales |
| `off_exchange` | FINRA's trade-reporting facilities, published on the consolidated tape (the CTA and UTP plans); through Unusual Whales |
Each dataset's underlying source is declared on it once the SDK carries the
field; until then it is said here and on the Datasets page.
## The licence
Each dataset's default licence declares what the public pages say: kept,
one person's, displayed, derived data for internal use only (the pages say
nothing more of it), redistribution only under a licence. The dataset's
licence on your Data sources page is what your deployment records; neither
the plugin nor this page says whether your use meets anyone's terms.
Unusual Whales is a trademark of its owner; this project is not affiliated
with or endorsed by Unusual Whales.
The plugin is Apache-2.0. The option contracts and prints committed with it
are made up, in the API's documented shape, never Unusual Whales' data.
